Cool Windjammers Make Grenada Their Hub Once Again

We are blessed once more by the choice of Grenada as the Windjammer hub in the southern Caribbean. The S.V. Yankee Clipper and its sister ship the S.V. Mandalay will be operating out of Grenada for this season once again. They are in port every weekend to take on new passengers for the one week cruise through the Grenadine Islands to St. Vincent and return.

Mandalay is the larger of the two ships, but both are the experience of a lifetime in the prettiest sailing waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Some of our members have made many trips with the Windjammers and will be happy to attest to the fun and sights along the way.

I have never had the pleasure of a full week aboard, but I have spent one day and evening aboard the Yankee clipper which was a highlight of last years working vacation in Grenada.

Re: Windjammers Make Grenada Their Hub Once Again

We've done 30+ weeks with Windjammer since '93 and know the Captains of both Grenada based ships fairly well. The best thing for me is that the crew members are from the islands and someone can always give you tips on places to go and things to do.

Captain Julian of the Yankee Clipper is from Bequia and is the first "local" to be a WJ Captain; we've known him since '93 and he's the greatest.

Be glad to answer any WJ related questions.

Re: Windjammers Make Grenada Their Hub Once Again

Hi Folks,

Anyone reading this thread should be aware that sadly Windjammer Barefoot Cruises has gone into bankruptcy in 2008. The company no longer operates any cruises.
