Carriacou trip info anyone w/info placestay/eat

I am looking for a place to stay; not high end; we like more of a local flare so we can gain insight on where to go and what to see while there and mingle w/the locals; experience the culture and simply have a great relaxing time and love to snorkel also and we dont mind walking or hiking around to get to places.

I am researching Carriacou for this Oct trip; I would like to spend a few nights on carriacou and see what it has to offer, the island really interests me; it looks amazing; esp. being called the island of reefs,

is there great snorkeling from the shore on Carriacou?

if yes, where at?

easy to get to from shore?

I hear to go to Sandy Island. We experienced the Tobago Cays in april and would like to find other Cays but in this area. Any recommendations?


If you can guide us on where to stay, who to use for taxi and water taxi; where to eat local food and all that wonderful info I would be much appreciated to you. Having 1st hand knowledge is a big advantage when going to a far away place
